4. WHAT ABOUT BODY LANGUAGE?

The wardrobe game is on point now. The jacket and tie elevate this headshot from business-casual to polished professional. This is the right image to project to prospective clients. As far as wardrobe, at least.

Facial expression? Well, that looks pretty good, too.

And yet, our work here is not done. Wardrobe and expression matter, but there is still one channel that isn't dialed in - body language.

His expression is friendly, but his pose, because he is square to the camera, is too confrontational. It's a little more "bring it on" than "how can I help you?" It repels prospective clients, even as the smile welcomes them. It creates a subtle confusion in the viewer.

That is the last thing you want. Every element of your headshot must send a congruent message in order to be effective.
