1M CAN BE YOUR COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE.
The Basics.
As a model, there are a variety of materials that "sell" you to potential clients. Your Comp Card, for example, is akin to a resume in the traditional job market. This will get in front of the employer before you do and ad agencies and the like will call you in based on what they see there in relation to what project they're working on. So, it's important to show them a variety of different "looks" and to demonstrate your versatility and range. This is not to say that the creative staff at large agencies don't have "vision". To the contrary, their eye and their ability to take certain "basic elements" and build on them are likely the very reason that they are employed in a creative position. That said, it's important to provide them with at least one view of you as a "basic element". In other words, you as you are without a lot of styling, makeup or wardrobe help. In fact, jeans and a t-shirt work just fine believe it or not. From that image, an art director or creative director can see what they're working with in terms of stature, bone structure and coloring ... and from those basic details, they'll know just what to do with you ... and whether you'll fit into this shoot or not..
It's Not All Designer Dresses.

That smashing Faviana dress that you saw on your favorite movie star as she walked the red carpet at the Oscar Awards, is certainly high fashion. And when we think of high fashion, we think of super models. Well, the fact of the matter is that there is a lot of modeling to be done (and money to be made) that isn't high fashion. In reality, high fashion accounts for a small percentage of modeling work and these projects are so highly sought after that a handful of the best agencies often find themselves pitted against each other vying for the work and, perhaps more importantly, the notoriety. Well, take the high out of high fashion and you have fashion. And, there's much to be said about a successful career as a fashion model.

"I remember always having pictures taken and the photographer telling me to smile. Then when the pictures came back I looked like I was in pain. I think I always had retakes done. Then I had the opportunity to have my pictures taken by someone who took the time with me and made me feel comfortable. My experience with Walter taking my pictures was amazing! I didn’t really know Walter ... but somehow he knew how to put me at ease. He took great care in everything he did. I felt like a movie star and was amazed at the results of him draping my head in different fabrics. When I finally saw my pictures I was speechless, I couldn’t believe how great they had turned out. My mother cried when she saw the slide show … I guess this time we aren’t having retakes done!"
