ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Background
The town of Wetzlar is like the Silicon Valley of optics in Germany. Since Walter was born and raised near there, it's not surprising that he gravitated toward optical technology. Early in his career, he became skilled at calculating lenses and he was integrally involved in a project for NASA creating an optical system to measure landing speed vectors for the space shuttle. In the mean time, he dabbled taking candid shots of his daughter Sonja.

Path of development
Eventually, Walter came to the States and focused on marketing German-made equipment to America's industrial marketplace. He noticed that this market had different sensibilities and tastes and that his counterparts in Germany had difficulty interpreting his needs for a new breed of product photography. Well, being a techno-phile, Walter soon amassed an arsenal of high-end equipment ... and was determined to make the investment pay off with his finely-honed skills. Ultimately, Walter achieved such a dynamic style that his industrial photography has been featured in dozens of magazines ... including the front cover of publications like Manufacturing Engineering.

Here and now
With the success of that endeavor, Walter decided to bring his knack for dramatic lighting and setups to a segment that seemed to direly need it. Portraiture - including Model Head Shots, Senior Class Pictures, Engagements Photos etc. seemed to have become a point-and-click.cattle call where not much time or thought went into what the subject wanted, who they were and how to bring out the best and accentuate the positive. Walter's pragmatic mind began to break this process down and build it back up with a sure-fired formula that has yielded many happy clients and this professional photography studio - Catching-1-Moment.
